Bio

Dr. Mitchell led outdoor education activities for eight years at various camps and conference centers before pursuing a Master’s Degree in Education and Human Development from George Washington University in Washington, DC. He has facilitated residence life programming at the university level and served as a school counselor for 14 years in urban, rural, and suburban settings. As a district-level school counseling supervisor, he coordinated mental health services for 6 years in support of a diverse community of 24,000 students and their families. His research interests focus on school counselor leadership development in alignment with the counseling profession’s emphasis on advocacy, multiculturalism, and social justice.
